A Canadian citizen
At least 18 years old
A resident in the City of Mississauga; or
A non-resident of Mississauga and you or your spouse owns or rents property in the City
Are serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution
Are a corporation
Are acting as executor or trustee or in any other representative capacity
Were convicted of the corrupt practice described in Municipal Elections Act, 1996, less than five years ago
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, along with the City, held an in-person candidate information session on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. It was open to anyone interested in running for office or learning more about the 2026 Mississauga Municipal Election.
The session was intended to provide prospective candidates with the information they need to understand the process and requirements to run. It also covered the Use of City Resources During an Election Campaign Corporate Policy.
